Making an impact, startup style
This month saw a series of blog posts by startups making an impact in various ways on various challenges. Each founder will appear this Thursday on our panel at Startup Salon:Ideas With Impact.
We’re looking at how you can make an impact on the stuff that you’d like to change or fix (and lets face it given the current political climate we need plenty of changers and fixers to tackle the problems we all face given our politicians are busy squabbling over things that aren’t necessarily related to our day to day experience of life) in your community by using an entrepreneur’s approach. It’s a case of learn from those who’re doing it and do it yourself!
We had UniTuition, a startup looking to help third level students get more out of their education, talking to us about how they’re trying to impact the third level experience by using digital technology to connect students with tutors.
Access Earth spoke to us about how they’re trying to improve the travel experience for people with mobility problems, with their App.
Derek F. Butler shared his insights on the world of banking and how the industry needs to be disrupted, his startup GRID Finance is out to do just that.
Social Entrepreneurs Ireland who will be represented by their Director of Impact, Annalisa O’Carroll, at Startup Salon, shared their views of the role social enterprise can play is solving societal problems, curtesy of their CEO Darren Ryan.
Eamon Sayers is tackling an issue close to his heart, how to support sports people who’ve suffered paralysing injuries, with his non-profit organisation World Sports Team.
We are so grateful to these founders for getting out there with their ideas to make a positive impact on their chosen industries through technology, passion, business acumen and professionalism and most of all the determination they have to make an impact.
I’m even more grateful to them for joining us at Dogpatch Labs for the next Startup Salon: Ideas With Impact on Thursday 7th July. If you haven’t got your ticket yet, you can get yours here. Join us for what I expect will be a super inspirational evening!
