Happy New Year!

I hope you’ve taken time out over the festive season to reflect on all of your achievements in 2016.

Well done! 

No doubt you’re approaching your New Years goals as you would approach a new adventure to somewhere you’ve never been before:  Excited at the prospect of the unchartered territory that awaits you. Eager to face new challenges and to discover new opportunities.

This is the perfect time to veer in different directions and seek new perspectives, but also for reviewing unrealised dreams.

The key to a successful adventure is that it is the right kind of adventure for you, and it’s at the right time. Before you commit to your new goals and follow hand-me-down goals you’ve been unsuccessful at achieving so far, why not take time to reflect on the validity of your goals. Perhaps the goals are no longer relevant or perhaps they weren’t faulty but the how was?

This can be done by considering your dreams in the context of your reality now; ask yourself these questions:

• Do I REALLY want this now? As we grow we evolve and so too do our hopes and desires. Perhaps the dream we had 5 years ago is no longer relevant; maybe it needs adjustment? What is relevant to you now?
• What is the underlying reason for wanting this?
• Is there a better way that is more achievable/practical to address the underlying reason?

Then take time to figure out the how to your what (and why!), this is as important as the goal itself!
