The theme of building tribes will feature prominently over the next few months as Great Life Distillery seeks to expand the ways it supports people make changes in their lives to achieve their dreams.
How Tribes help Changemakers
In his book The Element: How finding your passion changes everything, Sir Ken Robinson wrights about the importance of finding your tribe: “Finding your tribe can have transformative effects on your sense of identity and purpose…” . Not only important on an individual level, according to Seth Goden, tribes help people make big change happen in the world. See his TED talk about that here.
The first Startup Salon of 2017, is taking place in Dogpatch Labs on Thursday April 13th. What is central to these events is purpose. Purpose fuels our engagement to whatever goals we’re working on; whatever organisations and issues we’re attached to. Purpose ignites our energy to commit to causes beyond ourselves and our direct needs. It’s about why we learn and how we develop; the communities we grow ourselves or join and attachment to some kind of higher ideal that is bigger than our individual selves.
Most of all, a tribe built around a common purpose will be capable of so much more than a tribe that is not. So best if we’re all clued in to what ours is!
I look forward to helping you understand yours and share it!
